NEW HOPE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH AND YMCA PRESCHOOL

Facilities Sound Insulation Design

JP worked with the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (SDCRAA), providing building envelope and ventilation improvements to New Hope Seventh-Day Adventist Church and YMCA Preschool. The project is part of SDCRAA’s Quieter Home Program (QHP), which was created to reduce interior noise levels inside eligible homes and non-residential properties impacted by operations at San Diego International Airport (SAN).

Serving as Architect and Owner’s Project Manager, JP designed sound insulation treatments for the campus, which includes the Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, and a classroom building containing four separate classrooms. The JP team met with the building owners to identify approaches required to meet public and commercial facility codes and Federal Aviation Administration eligibility. We conducted onsite meetings to tailor the scope of services to address the facility’s needs. Acoustical testing, design assessments, and hazardous materials sampling were accomplished with little or no disruption to the facility’s activities. Due to COVID-19, our standard field assessment protocols were modified to ensure safety and minimize contact with staff and building occupants, especially children.
