Parks Hall Student Life: Planning/Studies & Renovations

Everett Community College (EvCC) requested our expertise to perform a space study of the current layout of its Student Services center (Student Life). The design team evaluated conditions of the existing space. They provided recommendations and cost opinions for specific areas of renovation with a focus on improving internal circulation and creating better synergy between offices and meeting rooms. Based on results of the study, EvCC chose to move forward with the proposed design, which included redefining the entryway, re-configuring all the room layouts, and creating open student space. The existing entry did not function well with the main corridor. Visitors had to make a 180-degree turn in order to enter. The design team positioned the new entrance at an angle, making it visible from the upper level of the building.

Founded in 1941, EvCC’s North Everett campus is located in Everett, WA on 46 acres near the Legion Memorial Park Golf Course. EvCC also offers classes at its East County Campus in Monroe, WA and at 9 additional locations in North and East Snohomish County. EvCC is one of 34 community and technical colleges governed by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • OAI created a 3D model to help the client visualize the new entry from both the corridor and upper level.
  • The Student Services Leadership Committee (Committee) at EvCC raised the necessary funds for the entire project. The design team worked closely with the Committee throughout all phases of the project, including the selection of materials, finishes and furniture.
  • Led a team of technical professionals to produce the study.
  • Managed all stakeholder communication.
