JP worked in collaboration with Warwick Public Schools under contract with the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) to provide building envelope and ventilation improvements to E.G. Robertson Elementary School in Warwick, Rhode Island. Sponsored by RIAC, JP prepared a feasibility study to determine to how to improve the interior environmental quality of the school due to its proximity to T.F. Green Airport. The study, which focused on noise intrusion and fresh-air ventilation, was used to successfully secure funding from the FAA and resulted in improving the quality of the classroom environment for teachers and students.
Constructed in 1947, the E.G. Robertson Elementary School is a one-story building surrounded by a residential neighborhood. It was the first modern-era school in the City of Warwick, which became a prototype for schools across the country.
