BURLINGTON, VT, October 30, 2020 – More than 2,600 homes near Burlington International Airport (BTV) will soon become quieter and more energy efficient. That is thanks to key support from Vermont Gas. Jones Payne worked with BTV and Vermont Gas to negotiate a strategic partnership. As part of the agreement, Vermont Gas will provide a 10% local match of $550K annually. The funds will be combined with a $4.5M grant from the US Department of Transportation to finance BTV’s Sound Insulation Program (Program).
The Program will sound insulate all eligible homes negatively impacted by BTV airport operations, and located within the defined sound insulation contours. In addition to acoustical treatments, the Program has been expanded and will include weatherization and energy efficiency work, further funded by Vermont Gas. BTV’s Pilot Program is slated to begin in 2021.
BTV is home to the Vermont Air National Guard and F-35A aircraft. It is one of three civil-military airports that Jones Payne represents. Jones Payne is the national leader, dedicated to aviation noise reduction at joint-use and commercial airports. We are experienced negotiating deals on behalf of our airport clients for energy credits and rebates to increase program budgets, including recent work at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport.
