Program Summary: In the spring of 2000 Jones Payne conducted a homeowner outreach inviting all eligible residents from Casanova Oak Knoll, Del Monte Grove and Del Monte Beach neighborhoods to program orientation meetings. By the end of 2001 the Jones Payne Noise Mitigation Group will have treated approximately 116 of the 248 eligible single-family residences in the three affected Monterey neighborhoods. |
Single Family HomesMost homes in the affected areas were built circa the 1950's. A majority of the existing structures are wood framed on concrete foundations with stucco exterior. Typical treatments to these residences will include: window and door replacement, wall and ceiling treatments, insulation in attic spaces, new attic access panels and fireplace doors. In addition, the program will enlarge bedroom windows where necessary to meet current state egress code. The program will also provide carbon monoxide detectors to residences that have fuel-burning appliances in living spaces. |
Beachfront HomesThe homes located in the Del Monte Beach neighborhood offer some of the more unique challenges for design protocol due to the proximity to adjacent structures, existing product type, and the physical location of where these homes were built. Most of these homes were built in the 60's and 70's on the dunes overlooking the Monterey Bay with a majority of the homes featuring large glass panels that provide a panoramic view of the bay. Many homeowners share a concern that treatment to these locations would disturb their views. Jones Payne, being sensitive to these concerns, has recommended the use interior storm panels as an acoustical treatment strategy. This is an installation that is less intrusive to the homeowner and the structure, and more economically sound for the program. Furthermore, the use of these panels will maintain the homes' spectacular views of Monterey Bay. |

SchoolsDel Monte Elementary School is a public school providing education to students from pre-kindergarten to Grade 6. The Monterey Peninsula Airport District has approved funding for the design and treatment of the Del Monte Elementary School. Modifications to the Del Monte Elementary School will include new windows, doors, and selected ceiling treatments to classrooms, administrative & multi purpose areas and the library. With nearly 500 new windows and 70 new doors, this project will provide a quieter and higher quality environment for the students and faculty. |
